Honorable Ustaz, Sheikh, Dr. Ibrahim Zakariyya Moosa is a distinguished Maldivian intellectual with a PhD in Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh, as well as an M.A. in Islamic Revealed Knowledge from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Islamic Shariah from the Islamic University of Medina, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Zakariyya has held several esteemed positions, including serving as the former Rector of the College of Islamic Studies and the Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives. In addition, he contributed to the legislative sector and broadly to national development as a parliamentarian for 13 years.
As part of his efforts to promote Islamic banking and finance in the Maldives, he has translated two books on Islamic finance into the local language Dhivehi. He has lectured extensively at the tertiary level academic institutions on Islamic economics for over a decade and has also actively participated in the promotion of Islamic finance among stakeholders, community leaders, and school children.
Dr. Zakariyya’s valuable expertise and guidance have been instrumental to HDFC Amna since its inception in 2012, shaping its growth and success with profound knowledge and leadership.
